Cannabis is now legal for medicinal use in forty-eight US states, and for personal recreational use in fourteen. As such, more dispensaries are popping up and consumers are seeking better ways to keep their pre-roll products safe. This is where joint tubes and doob tubes are so handy.

Rolls remain the preferred method of ingesting cannabis, as well as tobacco, hemp, etc. The use thin paper as the rolling material; it may be pure white or novelty in an array of colors or flavors. Papers can be made of rice, hemp, tobacco, or other components.

But let’s get back to basics with some terminology. We talk about marijuana in a variety of ways, and use several terms, including spliff, joint, blunt, doob, and cigarette. What’s the difference? Is there a difference at all?

Joint –this is asmall, discreet, and portable way to carrycannabis product for personal use. The dried cannabis is rolled ins thin rolling paper. It may have a filter (“crutch”) which stabilizes the roll and allows it to be consumed in full without the risk of burning the fingers.

Spliff –this is a joint with tobacco mixed with the cannabis. The ratio of cannabis to tobacco is highly variable depending on the taste and preference of the user. A spliff will usually have a filter and contain more tobacco than a blunt does.

Blunt –this is a pre-rollproduct that incorporates cannabis rolled inside a blunt wrap or cigar. The wrap is made from tobacco. These are usually larger than a joint and will, as such, last longer. The tobacco in the pre-roll imparts more energy to the effects of cannabis.

Doob –is a slang term for a joint (or “doobie”).

The preference for roll-type varies globally. While people in the US generally prefer joints, Europeans favor spliffs – yet on the other side of the Atlantic, the names are interchanged.
