A U.S. survey has found that consumption of marijuana as an alcohol substitute has “suddenly skyrocketed” this year, and that marijuana is replacing alcohol, cigarettes and painkillers. Similarly, another study published in May in the journal Addiction found that more American adults use marijuana daily than drink alcohol daily.
